With almost five months worth of arrivals still to count, Hawaii remains on track for its first 7 million visitor year, the count having surpassed 5 million in the first days of August.

The Hawaii Department of Business, Economic & Tourism counted 110,368 arrivals in August's first five days, compared to 101,537 a year ago, which means August arrivals are running 8.7 percent ahead of August 2004 so far.

Full month visitor arrival figures so far:

January: 646,923 (600,915) up 7.7 percent.

February: 615,935 (591,202) up 4.2 percent.

March: 725,978 (666,860) up 8.9 percent.

April: 622,037 (623,255) down 0.2 percent.
