2005 visitor arrivals top 5 million With almost five months worth of arrivals still to count, Hawaii remains on track for its first 7 million visitor year, the count having surpassed 5 million in the first days of August. The Hawaii Department of Business, Economic & Tourism counted 110,368 arrivals in August's first five days, compared to 101,537 a year ago, which means August arrivals are running 8.7 percent ahead of August 2004 so far. Full month visitor arrival figures so far: January: 646,923 (600,915) up 7.7 percent. February: 615,935 (591,202) up 4.2 percent. March: 725,978 (666,860) up 8.9 percent. April: 622,037 (623,255) down 0.2 percent. May 683,391 (630,549) up 8.4 percent. June: 789,894 (719,262) up 9.8 percent. July: 843,062 (784,967) up 7.4 percent. As of Monday morning, with domestic arrivals counted through Thursday night and international arrivals counted through Friday morning, the 2005 count, which stood just below 4.93 million as July ended, now stands at 5,037,588. For comparison, the city of Venice gets 8 million visitors a year. Las Vegas gets 22 million.
